The U.S. Aluminum Extruders Coalition is disappointed by the Mexican Government’s announcement that it will increase tariffs on its imports of aluminum ingots, billets, and extrusions without also revoking its various duty exemption programs. Because these various Mexican duty exemption programs were not also revoked, the announcement is little more than window dressing and will only serve to accelerate the surge of unfairly traded aluminum extrusions using highly distorted and subsidized metal into the United States at the expense of the U.S. industry and its workers.
